About Dr. Joseph W. Russell
 Dr.
Joseph W. Russell is a board certified pediatrician who has been in
practice for over twenty years.
After receiving his
medical degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of
Osteopathic Medicine, he completed a one year rotating internship in
Dayton, Ohio and then completed a three year residency in
pediatrics at Loyola University Medical Center.
Dr. Russell is a
Diplomate of the American Board
of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the
American Academy of Pediatrics
Dr. Russell is
committed to anticipatory guidance as a major component of the well
child visit. Parents are all too often unaware and unsuspecting of
the dangers associated with childhood products.
Shopping cart injuries
provide a prime example. Since shopping carts are commonplace in the
retail environment, parents assume they are safe. Dr. Russell’s
major motivation is to increase public awareness and educate
childhood caretakers of this danger.
Realizing the
resistance to change that currently exists, Dr. Russell has devoted
countless hours and resources to the development of a safer shopping
cart alternative. Dr. Russell stated in a recent interview,
“If I am able to spare one child a head injury, then my efforts were
not without merit.”
